State electoral districts in North Rhine-Westphalia in the state elections in 2017

The list of state electoral districts in North Rhine-Westphalia 2017 contains all 128 constituencies that were used in the state elections in North Rhine-Westphalia 2017 .

Compared to 2010 and 2012, the division of the constituencies was partially changed, which is mainly due to the different population trends. The law amending the law on the allocation of constituencies for elections to the state parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia was passed in the state parliament with the votes of the SPD and the Greens and announced on November 10, 2015 in the law and regulation gazette. The following are specifically affected:

• District of Euskirchen : There will be an exchange between constituencies 8 and 12. The municipality of Dahlem is now part of the Euskirchen I constituency , Kall is now part of the Düren II - Euskirchen II constituency .
• Wuppertal / Solingen : The division of the constituencies will be changed again so that constituency 33 will now penetrate significantly further into Solingen.
• Remscheid : The constituency 35 Remscheid is expanded to include the municipality of Radevormwald in the Oberbergisches Kreis . This has met with some criticism, as the constituency now comprises areas from two different administrative districts: Remscheid belongs to the Düsseldorf administrative district , Radevormwald to the Cologne administrative district .
• Krefeld : Constituency 47 Krefeld I is expanded to include the municipality of Tönisvorst in the Viersen district .
• Duisburg : The layout of all four constituencies is changed, constituency 61 Duisburg II now includes the entire city district of Homberg / Ruhrort / Baerl and thus no longer exclusively the area on the left bank of the Rhine. The constituency 63 Duisburg IV will be expanded to include the Orsoy and Budberg districts of the Rheinberg community . This change was also criticized, the area of ​​the municipality of Rheinberg is located on the other side of the Rhine and can only be reached directly from Hamborn or Walsum by ferry. Rheinberg and Borth remain in the constituency of Wesel II .
• Essen : Constituency 68 Essen IV is being reduced in size in favor of other Essen constituencies.
• District of Minden-Lübbecke : Since constituency 89 Minden-Lübbecke II has become too large, the municipality of Bad Oeynhausen is separated and divided between the two constituencies in the Herford district. The directly elected member of the constituency 90 Herford I will in future also represent interests in the city ​​center , in Lohe and Rehme . The constituency 91 Herford II is expanded to include the districts of Dehme , Eidinghausen , Volmerdingsen , Werste and Wulferdingsen .

In addition, minor corrections are being made in Bonn and Hilden , which result from the renumbering or delimitation of municipal electoral districts. The delimitation of the Landtag constituencies is not significantly affected.

The electoral district law was repealed by the law amending the state electoral law and other state electoral regulations of May 24, 2016 , the bases for delimiting the electoral districts are added to the state electoral law. This now also includes the classification of the constituencies as an annex. This partly changes the description of the constituency areas, but their boundaries are not significantly affected. In Mönchengladbach , the division is no longer based on the city districts, which were abolished in this form in 2009, but on the city ​​districts . In Münster the division of the city districts west and center no longer follows a complicated street course, but the local electoral districts.
