Rehme ( Low German : Rieme) is a district of the North Rhine-Westphalian city ​​of Bad Oeynhausen in the Minden-Lübbecke district .

location

Rehme lies south of the Wiehengebirge and west of the Weser . In the east, Rehme borders (separated by the Weser) on the districts of Holtrup and Costedt of the city of Porta Westfalica , in the north on the districts of Dehme and Eidinghausen , in the west on the districts of Bad Oeynhausen and Lohe and in the south on the city of Vlotho in the Herford district .

In the system of natural spatial division of Germany , Rehme largely belongs to the Ravensberg hill country and lies on the border to the Lipper mountain country to the south .

In the areas of the Werre and Weser rivers near the river , floodplain deposits have been deposited. This area is at risk of flooding and is partially diked ; the dike maintenance is carried out by the Werre Water Association.

Rehme was first mentioned in a document in 753 in the Frankish imperial annals, when the Frankish kings Pippin the Younger and his successor Charlemagne went there on campaigns. Rehme has been the seat of a parish since around 800. The Romanesque Laurentius Church dates from the 12th century and was expanded in the neo-Romanesque style from 1890 to 1892 .
