Volmerdingsen is a district of the city of Bad Oeynhausen in the Minden-Lübbecke district in East Westphalia . With an area of almost 12 square kilometers, it is the largest district of Bad Oeynhausen.

Volmerdingsen is located in the northern part of the city of Bad Oeynhausen and borders in the east, south and west on the districts of Eidinghausen , Werste and Wulferdingsen . In the north, Volmerdingsen borders the Haddenhausen district of the city of Minden and the Rothenuffeln district of the Hille community ,
From a natural point of view, the place is in the northern part of the Ravensberg hill country and is part of the Eastern Wiehen Mountains , which form the northern border of the place on the ridge. In the area of the Bergkirchener Pass, the place overlaps slightly on the northern slope. Part of the location of Bergkirchen , especially its striking church, is already on Volmerdingen territory.

Volmerdingsen was first mentioned in a document in 1089.
On the occasion of the municipal reorganization , which came into force on January 1, 1973, the previously independent municipality of Volmerdingsen was incorporated into the Rehme district with a total area of around 11.78 km² and 4327 inhabitants in Bad Oeynhausen.
Attractions
In the center of the village, east of the Evangelical Church, lies a granite boulder weighing around 40 tons , which was transported from southern Sweden by glaciers to Volmerdingsen during the early Saale Ice Age. Its greatest circumference is 10.70 meters.

Since 2012, Volmerdingsen has been part of the primary school network between Weser and Wiehen , a network of former primary schools in the Dehme and Volmerdingsen districts. There is also a kindergarten in Volmerdingsen.

Volmerdingsen is shaped by the Wittekindshof diaconal foundation north of the old town center , which was founded there in 1887. With over 2,500 employees, the foundation is the largest employer in the city of Bad Oeynhausen.
