The state electoral district of Essen IV is a state electoral district in North Rhine-Westphalia . It includes the city districts II, VIII and IX in the south of Essen .
The constituency was rebuilt for the 2005 state election. It emerged from the old constituency of Essen VI , which only consisted of VIII and IX. II formed with the constituency I Eating V . Essen IV initially (from 1980) only comprised the city district VII, in 2000 Huttrop and Frillendorf were added, together with VI they now form the Essen II state electoral district .
State election 2017
Eligible to vote in the 2017 state elections were 105,672 residents of the constituency. The turnout was 74.2%.

In addition to the constituency member Fabian Schrumpf (CDU), who was able to win the constituency back from the SPD after five years, the direct candidates from the FDP, Ralf Witzel, and the Greens, Mehrdad Mostofizadeh, were also elected to the state parliament. They succeeded in entering parliament at fourth place on their party's state list.
