Fabian Schrumpf (born October 5, 1982 in Duisburg ) is a German politician (CDU) . Since May 14, 2017 he has been a member of the North Rhine-Westphalia state parliament for the Essen IV constituency .

Life

Schrumpf grew up in Essen-Kettwig. He graduated from the Theodor-Heuss-Gymnasium in Essen in 2002 and began studying law at the Heinrich Heine University in Düsseldorf after completing his military service. From 2007 he worked as a legal assistant at " ebl esch & kramer rechtsanwälte " until he passed his second state examination in 2011 and was admitted to the bar. Since then he has been working as a lawyer at ebl esch & kramer lawyers in Wuppertal and Düsseldorf. He is married and has two daughters.

Fabian Schrumpf has been a member of the CDU since 2000. He was active for seven years (2004–2011) in the District Council IX (Werden, Kettwig, Bredeney). From 2007 to 2011 he headed the Junge Union Essen as district chairman. In addition, he worked for three years (2009–2012) as a competent citizen in the youth welfare committee of the city of Essen. He has been a member of the Essen City Council since 2012, where he is spokesman for the CDU parliamentary group on regulatory and personnel policy. Fabian Schrumpf has been local chairman of the CDU Essen-Heisingen since 2014 and deputy district chairman of the CDU Essen since 2015.

On May 14, 2017, Fabian Schrumpf was elected as a direct candidate for the south of Essen in the state parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia. In July 2017 he was appointed spokesman for the CDU parliamentary group on building and housing policy. Fabian Schrumpf is a full member of the Interior Committee and the Committee for Home, Local Affairs, Building and Housing. In addition, since April 2018 he has headed the “Big Cities” working group of the Union Group. The cross-departmental working group deals with current and future challenges of large cities in North Rhine-Westphalia: the topics include municipal finances, mobility and urban development, education and health.
