history
For the 1980 state elections, the constituencies were redesigned to take account of the territorial reform. So two constituencies were created in the Aachen district, while Aachen I district covered the southern municipalities . Part of Alsdorf was added to the 1990 state elections . In 2000 the constituency was split up and the two constituencies of Aachen II and Aachen III - Euskirchen I constituencies were located on its territory . In 2005 the constituencies returned to their old form, but with changed names compared to 1980. After the district of Aachen was dissolved on October 21, 2009 and replaced by the city region of Aachen, the constituency was named Aachen IV from 2010 .
