Axel-Georg Wirtz (born June 23, 1957 in Gressenich , today Stolberg (Rhineland) ) is a German politician ( CDU ) and was a member of the state parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia .

After completing the technical college in 1975, Wirtz completed an apprenticeship for the higher non-technical service in the city of Stolberg (Rhld.). From 1981 to 1999 he was a government official at RWTH Aachen University , most recently in the Academic and Student Affairs Department.

Wirtz has been a member of the CDU since 1973, having previously joined the Junge Union in 1971 . As a member of the CDU, he was chairman of the CDU city association in Stolberg from 1988 to 1999. Since November 1999 he has been chairman of the CDU district association in Aachen. Wirtz has been a member of the Stolberg city council since 1984 and is chairman of the school and culture committee. From 1994 he was a member of the district council of the Aachen district . Wirtz had been a member of the state parliament in the North Rhine-Westphalian state parliament for the constituency of Aachen II (renamed Aachen IV in 2010 ) since October 4, 1999. Since the state election in 2017, he has not been a member of the state parliament because his list position 75 did not move.
