Lithocharis is a genus of beetles from the family of the short-winged species (Staphylinidae) within the subfamily Paederinae . It occurs in Europe with three types, two are also native to Central Europe.

features

The beetles are very similar to those of the genus Medon , but differ from them by their short temples which are shorter than the diameter of the compound eyes . Your body is dull and has a silky shimmer.

Occurrence and way of life

The animals live on rotting plant material. Lithocharis nigriceps is an originally Asian species that has spread in Central Europe since around 1940 and is now found everywhere there.
