Stefan Kämmerling (born March 25, 1976 in Eschweiler ) is a German politician ( SPD ) and a member of the state parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia .

Life and work

After attending secondary school Patternhof Eschweiler Kämmerling made 1992-1995 a vocational training for bank clerk in the Sparkasse Aachen . This was followed in 1999 by further training as a savings bank specialist at the savings bank academy of the Rhenish Savings Banks and Giro Association . Since acceptance of the state parliament mandate in May 2012, the employment relationship with the Sparkasse Aachen has been suspended.

Kämmerling is married and lives in Eschweiler.

He is a member of ver.di , AWO , SGK and Naturfreunde Internationale .

politics

In 1998 Kämmerling joined the SPD. From 1999 to 2003 he was sub-district chairman of the Jusos in the Aachen district and from 2000 to 2008 he was press spokesman for the SPD sub-district of Aachen under the then sub-district chairman Martin Schulz . In 2002 he graduated from the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung's municipal academy in Bergneustadt and, in 2014, from the SPD's leadership academy in Berlin. After working as press spokesman for the SPD city association of Eschweiler from 2003 to 2008, he headed it from 2008 to 2016 as chairman of the city association. Since 2010 Kämmerling has been deputy. Chairman of the SPD sub-district in the Aachen city region (formerly SPD sub-district Aachen) and since 2014 deputy Chairman of the SPD region Middle Rhine. In September 2016 he was elected to the state board of the NRWSPD and in November 2016 to its presidium.

His first commitment to local politics was from 2000 to 2004 as an expert citizen in the planning, environment and building committee in the city council of Eschweiler. Kämmerling has been a member of the Eschweiler City Council since 2004.

On May 9, 2010 Kämmerling ran for the first time for the state parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia. With a first vote result of 39.6% he missed the entry into the state parliament by 0.8% or 540 votes. On May 13, 2012, after the dissolution of the state parliament, Kämmerling ran again for the state parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia and directly won the constituency of Aachen II (renamed Aachen IV in 2010) with a first vote result of 42.1%.

In the 16th electoral term of the North Rhine-Westphalia state parliament, he chaired the committee for local politics from November 2015 and was a member of the budget and finance committee. From July 2013 to January 2016, he held the position of deputy chairman of Parliamentary Committee of Inquiry II of the North Rhine-Westphalia state parliament, which investigated the undesirable developments and the decline of the Westdeutsche Landesbank ( WestLB ).

In the state election on May 14, 2017, Kämmerling directly won the constituency of Aachen IV for the second time with 38.6% of the first votes.

From the beginning of the 17th electoral term until July 2018, he was chairman of the Committee on Home, Local Affairs, Building and Housing. Kämmerling resigned from the chairmanship of the Parliament's Committee on Home, Local Affairs, Building and Housing with effect from July 15, 2018 because he was elected as the local political spokesman for the SPD parliamentary group. He is also a member of the budget and finance committee and the subcommittee on modernization of budget law and financial controlling.
