Helen Weidenhaupt (born September 12, 1954 in Janesville / Wisconsin ( USA )) is a German politician ( SPD ). Between November 2009 and June 2010 she was a member of the state parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia .

Origin and occupation

Weidenhaupt graduated from high school in 1973 and then studied German and the Catholic religion at RWTH Aachen University . In 1985 she obtained her 1st and in 1994 her 2nd state examination. Weidenhaupt has been working as a primary school teacher since then. Weidenhaupt is married and has one child.

Party and organizations

Weidenhaupt has been a member of the SPD since 1988. Until 2008 she was chairwoman of the Eschweiler city ​​association of the SPD. She has been an assessor here since 2008. Since 2006 she has also been the vice-chairwoman of the SPD subdistrict of the Aachen City Region . Weidenhaupt has been a member of the city council of Eschweiler since 1992, and since 2004 she has also been the first deputy mayor . Weidenhaupt has been a member of the Education and Science Union (GEW) since 1995 .

Weidenhaupt was a member of the North Rhine-Westphalia state parliament from November 12, 2009 until the end of the 14th legislative period. There she was a member of the Committee on Local Policy and Administrative Structural Reform. She received her mandate as a successor for Gero Karthaus , who left the state parliament due to his election as mayor of Engelskirchen .
