Peter Karl von Aretin

Peter Karl Adam Christian Friedrich Wilhelm Freiherr von Aretin auf Haidenburg (born May 3, 1814 in Munich ; † April 24, 1887 at Haidenburg Castle ) was a German politician of the German Center Party and a member of the Reichstag .

Live and act

He came from the Bavarian noble family of the Barons von Aretin . Peter Karl von Aretin was given to the royal Pageschool in Munich as a child. There he also attended high school and then studied philosophy and law from 1831 to 1835 . He then worked briefly as a lawyer at Bavarian courts, including the Munich District and City Court. He interrupted his career for long trips to Algeria, England, France and Italy. From 1843 he took control of his extensive estates. He owned the lords of Haidenburg and Münchsdorf in Lower Bavaria and the feudal lordship of Neuburg an der Kammel in Swabia. His profitable goods enabled him to pursue an economically independent political career.

He made his way into politics, not least because of his descent, when he was appointed to the Royal Bavarian Imperial Council for life on December 10, 1845. He was a member of the Chamber from 1845 to 1886.

In 1868 Peter Karl von Aretin was elected to the customs parliament and was a member of the Reichstag from 1871 to 1887 . There he was elected in constituency 4 Upper Bavaria (Ingolstadt). There he was a member of the German Center Party, of which he was a co-founder.

Baron Peter von Aretin married Franziska Freiin von Gumppenberg (1823-1858) on May 2, 1844 . With her he fathered four sons and six daughters.
