Josef ben Juda (ben Ja'aqov) ibn Aknin (* around 1150 in Barcelona ; † around 1220 ) was a Spanish-Jewish religious philosopher and poet .

Born in Barcelona, ​​Aknin moved to Fez , one of the most important places in the Almohad Empire . His writings, written in Hebrew and Arabic , include the Sefer ha-Musar (a commentary on Pirqe Avot ), Tibb al-Nufus (a psychological work), an introduction to the Talmud, etc. He translated the "Great Book of Music" ( Arabic كتاب الموسيقى الكبير, DMG Kitāb al-mūsīqā al-kabīr ) from al-Farabi from Arabic into Hebrew.
