List of constituencies and constituencies in Bavaria
The list of constituencies and constituencies in Bavaria lists all constituencies and constituencies for elections to the Bavarian State Parliament . To the district election day , the same voice circuits as used in the state elections. The electoral districts are omitted here, as they coincide territorially with the Bavarian districts in which voting takes place. For the elections to the German Bundestag , different constituencies apply (see list of Bundestag constituencies ).
Constituencies
The Bavarian State Parliament has at least 180 members . The election takes place separately according to 7 constituencies, which are territorially identical to the Bavarian districts .

Constituencies
The constituencies themselves are divided into a total of 91 constituencies. 91 members of the Bavarian State Parliament are directly elected through these constituencies. The constituency candidate with a relative majority of the first votes is elected. Runoff elections are therefore unnecessary.
The remaining 89 MPs are elected from the constituency lists of the individual constituency proposals. The second vote is not cast for a list, but for a candidate on the list (apart from that of one's own constituency). Thus the order of the candidates on the list can also be changed through the election. It is not only the second votes that are decisive for the individual candidates and for the lists, but rather the total votes (sum of the first and second votes).
Victory constituency candidates whose party has not overcome the five percent threshold will lose their mandate. Likewise, it is not enough for a list to exceed the threshold clause in one constituency. The threshold clause is calculated on a country basis.
The state electoral law provides for compensatory mandates if a party has more electoral district representatives than it would be entitled to based on the total number of votes ( overhang mandates ). The compensation mandates are determined on the basis of the constituencies. There is no nationwide compensation.
The electoral districts themselves are regulated in the Annex to Article 5, Paragraph 4 of the Bavarian State Election Act.

history
Before 2003, 104 mandates were awarded in constituencies.
For the 2003 state elections , the number of electoral districts was reduced to 92 for the first time. Some constituencies were dissolved and distributed to the surrounding constituencies. The layout of the existing constituencies was also changed if their size deviated from the average by more than 25 percent.
In the state election in 2008 , another vocal group was deleted. Only Central Franconia was affected by changes in the classification. The Fürth-Land district was dissolved and divided. Three cities joined the Fürth district (formerly Fürth-Stadt district ), the rest were incorporated into the Neustadt an der Aisch-Bad Windsheim district, which in turn was renamed Neustadt an der Aisch-Bad Windsheim, Fürth-Land district . At the same time, the boundaries of two other electoral districts were changed, so that the Weißenburg-Gunzenhausen district now fully belonged to the Ansbach-Süd district, Weißenburg-Gunzenhausen and the Roth district only included the area of the Roth district.
In 2011, a further change in the allocation of electoral districts was decided, which reduced their number to 90. The changes are as follows:
- Upper Bavaria: The constituency of Neuburg-Schrobenhausen , which was dissolved for the state elections in 2003, was re-established from parts of the constituencies of Ingolstadt, Neuburg an der Donau (now Ingolstadt) and Pfaffenhofen an der Ilm, Schrobenhausen (now Pfaffenhofen an der Ilm). Three constituencies in Munich were also affected by changes. The district of Munich-Altstadt-Hadern was then called the district of Munich-Hadern , as the area of the old town was assigned to the district of Munich-Schwabing . This in turn gave some areas to the district of Munich-Milbertshofen .
- Upper Palatinate: The district of Regensburg-Land, Schwandorf was dissolved. The Schwandorf district was in future congruent with the Schwandorf district , and the Amberg-Sulzbach district then belonged entirely to the Amberg-Sulzbach district . Three communities in the Regensburg district were assigned to the Regensburg-Stadt district , the rest formed the new Regensburg-Land district . Finally, the town of Windischeschenbach moved from the Weiden district in the Upper Palatinate to the Tirschenreuth district .
- Upper Franconia: The district of Wunsiedel, Kulmbach was newly formed from most of the districts of Kulmbach and Wunsiedel in the Fichtelgebirge . Some communities joined the constituencies of Bayreuth and Hof (which now included the entire district of Hof ). This reallocation was highly controversial, so that the Bavarian Greens and the districts of Kulmbach and Wunsiedel in the Fichtelgebirge, among others , sued the Bavarian Constitutional Court . However, the latter rejected the lawsuit.
- Lower Franconia: The district of Würzburg-Stadt no longer exclusively comprised the independent city of Würzburg , it received two communities in the district of Würzburg and the district of Würzburg-Land .
For the 2018 state election , the number of electoral districts was increased to 91 again. For this purpose, a new district of Munich-Mitte was formed from parts of the districts of Munich-Hadern , Munich-Schwabing , Munich-Bogenhausen and Munich-Giesing . The Munich-Moosach district gave parts to the Munich-Hadern district and received parts of the Munich-Milbertshofen district .
