The Straubing constituency (constituency 209) is a Bavarian constituency in the Niederbayern constituency , which has existed in its current form since the Bavarian state and district elections in 1998. It consists of the urban district of Straubing and the district of Straubing-Bogen . Before the elections in 2003, the electoral district number was changed from 210 to 209, as the 203 Freyung-Grafenau district no longer existed due to a reform of the electoral district in Lower Bavaria .
State election 2003
The state elections for the 15th Bavarian State Parliament took place on September 24, 2003. Nine parties competed in the Straubing constituency. The party civil rights movement Solidarity (BüSo) did not put any direct candidates for election.
In addition to the winner of the direct mandate, Herbert Ettengruber , Josef Zellmeier entered the state parliament via the Lower Bavaria district list of the CSU.
voter turnout
Of the 107,104 eligible voters, 61,264 exercised their right to vote, which corresponds to a turnout of 57.20%. In the city of Straubing, the proportion of voters among the 33,772 eligible voters was 48.71%, which was significantly lower than in the Straubing-Bogen district of 61.11% with 73,332 eligible voters. In the Free State of Bavaria, the voter turnout of 57.1% was on the same level as in the Straubing constituency.

State election 2008
The state elections for the 16th Bavarian State Parliament took place on September 28, 2008. Eleven parties competed in the Straubing constituency. The party Die Violetten did not put any direct candidates for election. Herbert Ettengruber , the previous owner of the direct mandate, and the civil rights movement Solidarity (BüSo) no longer stood for election. The parties Die Linke , Die Violetten and NPD did not run in 2003.
In addition to the winner of the direct mandate, Josef Zellmeier , Reinhold Perlak moved into the state parliament via the SPD's Lower Bavaria district list.
voter turnout
Of the 109,402 eligible voters, 63,426 exercised their right to vote, which corresponds to a turnout of 57.98%. In the city of Straubing, the proportion of voters among the 34,186 eligible voters, at 49.15%, was significantly lower than in the Straubing-Bogen district, which was 61.99% with 75,216 eligible voters. Overall, the voter turnout increased by 0.87% or 2165 voters and the Straubing constituency was thus, as in 2003, at the same level as the Free State of Bavaria (58.1%).

The state elections for the 17th Bavarian State Parliament took place on September 15, 2013. Eleven parties competed in the Straubing constituency, each of which put up a direct candidate for election. The violets no longer competed, the pirates for the first time.
In addition to Josef Zellmeier , who was able to defend his direct mandate, Hans Ritt moved into the state parliament via the Lower Bavaria district list of the CSU.
voter turnout
Of the 111,081 eligible voters, 69,072 exercised their right to vote, which corresponds to a turnout of 62.18%. In the city of Straubing, the proportion of voters among the 34,587 eligible voters was 52.61%, in the district of Straubing-Bogen 66.51% of the 76,494 eligible voters went to the polls. With a 2.4% increase in the number of eligible voters, voter participation was roughly the same as in 2008.
