Herbert Ettengruber

Herbert Ettengruber (born July 19, 1941 in Munich ) is a German politician . As a member of the CSU , he was a member of the Bavarian state parliament from 1996 to 2008 .

Life

After visiting the Humanistic Gymnasium in Straubing and the military service studied Ettengruber in Munich law . In 1969 he became the personal adviser to the then Bundestag member Franz Josef Strauss for four years . Finally, in 1973, he moved to the local administration of the city of Straubing, where he worked as a social and economic consultant until 1996.

Political career

His political career began in 1969 when he joined the CSU. On April 1, 1996, Ettengruber moved to the Bavarian state parliament, to which he was a member until 2008. There he was a member of the Committee for Social Policy from 1996 to 2002, from 1996 to 2003 a member of the Committee for Federal and European Affairs as well as a member of the Enquete Commission Reform of Federalism - Strengthening the State Parliaments . He is currently a member of the Committee for Local Issues and Internal Security (since 2002), Chairman of the Parliamentary Control Committee (since October 2003) and Deputy Chairman of the Working Group for Local Issues and Internal Security of the CSU parliamentary group (since October 2003). He was no longer available for election to the state parliament in Bavaria in 2008 .

In the local elections in 1990 he ran for the office of Lord Mayor of the city of Straubing, but lost to Fritz Geisperger ( SPD ) in the runoff election with just under 48%.

Ettengruber is the holder of the Bavarian Fire Brigade Medal of Honor. He was also awarded the Bavarian Order of Merit in 2006.
