history

Seal of the mayor's office in Richterich

Richterich is located in the Heydener Ländchen , which belonged to the Duchy of Jülich from the Middle Ages to the end of the 18th century as the Heyden dominion . The seat of rule was the Wasserburg Haus Heyden in Horbach. In the 19th century came from a part of the rule Heyden the mayoralty Heyden , later mayor or parish called Richterich.

From 1911 to 1927, the Carl-Friedrich mine, the southernmost mine in the worm area, produced hard coal. The workforce was up to about 500 men. The production was stopped after only 16 years because of the unfavorable tectonic conditions and the poor quality coal.

As part of the municipal reorganization , Richterich was incorporated into Aachen on January 1, 1972 in accordance with the Aachen Act . The districts of Bank and Wilsberg with 1119 inhabitants, which had grown together with the neighboring Kohlscheid , were incorporated together with Kohlscheid to Herzogenrath . Richterich became one of the newly created urban districts of Aachen and has since been one of the districts of Aachen .

For the stop, the city of Aachen, the Aachener Verkehrsverbund , the NVR and the DB Station & Service commissioned a feasibility study for the so-called "north variant" in 2013 as a supplement to a study already prepared in 2008 for a "south variant".
