The Zweckverband Nahverkehr Rheinland (NVR) was founded on December 19, 2007 and started its work on January 1, 2008. In addition to the Verkehrsverbund Rhein-Ruhr (VRR) and the Zweckverband Nahverkehr Westfalen-Lippe (NWL), it is one of the three special-purpose associations in North Rhine-Westphalia . Projects

The major project is, on the one hand, the processing of the funds for the north-south light rail in Cologne and, in the long term, to establish an expanded S-Bahn ring around Cologne and thus better connect the city of Bonn and the Euskirchen district to the existing S-Bahn network Rhein- To connect the Ruhr .
