Werner Bischoff

Werner Bischoff (born November 15, 1947 in Gelsenkirchen ) is a German SPD politician .

education and profession

Werner Bischoff trained as a chaser at the Ruhrglas company in Essen from 1962 to 1965 . In 1970 he became secretary of the Chemical, Paper and Ceramics trade union. In 1990 he was elected regional head of the Chemical, Paper and Ceramics trade union for North Rhine-Westphalia. In 1996 he was elected to the executive board of the chemical, paper, ceramic industry, today IG BCE in Hanover.

politics

Werner Bischoff has been a member of the SPD since June 1, 1966. From 1976 to 1999 he was a member of the City Council of Monheim and chairman of the SPD parliamentary group in the local council. Werner Bischoff was a directly elected member of the 12th and 13th Landtag of North Rhine-Westphalia from 1995 to 2005 .

From Greenpeace Bischoff is considered one of the most outspoken proponents of lignite mining listed in the SPD.

Honors

In 2010 he was awarded the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany with the Order of Merit .
