Hans-Holger Müller (born July 23, 1947 in Rösrath ; † June 9, 2019 ) was a German politician ( CDU ). From 2005 until his death he was a member of the state parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia .

education and profession

After graduating from high school, Müller studied law at the University of Cologne from 1968 to 1977 . He passed his first state examination in law in 1977 and the second state examination in 1983. From 1983 to 1991 he was the owner of two travel agencies in Rösrath and Engelskirchen. From 1990 to 2009 Müller was initially a partner and managing director, between 1996 and 2000 managing partner and then partner of the company Columbus-Reisen Müller GmbH in Cologne, 1996 to 1999 managing director of a company in Rösrath. He was also a managing partner of M&S Columbus travel GmbH in Cologne from 1996 to 2000, after which he was only a partner until 2005. From 2000 to 2005 he worked as Head of Sales / Tourism and Visitor Services at Cologne / Bonn Airport .

Müller was married and had a son. He died after a short, serious illness.

Political life

Müller had been a member of the CDU since 1969. From 1970 to 1972 he was chairman of the Junge Union (JU) Rösrath, then until 1975 he was chairman of the JU Rheinisch-Bergischer Kreis and member of the board of the Rheinisch-Bergischer Kreis association of the CDU. From 1973 to 1986 he was a member of the state board of the JU Rheinland. From 1975 to 1979, Müller was a member of the Presidium of the JU NRW and from 1975 to 1982 he was the deputy chairman of the Rheinisch-Bergischer Kreis association of the CDU. He was chairman of the Rösrath local association of the CDU from 1977 to 1990 and has been again since 2005. From 1979 to 1983 he appeared as a member of the board of the JU Germany, and from 1980 to 1986 he was a member of the executive committee of the European Union of Young Christian Democrats (EUJCD).

Müller was twice a member of the City Council of Rösrath, namely from 1975 to 1989 and 1994 to 2004. From 1994 to 2004 he was also 1st Deputy Mayor of the City of Rösrath. As a member of the Rhineland Regional Assembly, he worked from 1979 to 1989. From 1975 he was a member of the district assembly of the Rheinisch-Bergisches Kreis, and since 2000 chairman of the district assembly.

Müller was elected directly to the state parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia on May 22, 2005 in the state elections in North Rhine-Westphalia in 2005 and on May 9, 2010 in the 2010 state election in the constituency of Rheinisch-Bergischer Kreis I (includes the cities of Bergisch Gladbach and Rösrath) . In the state elections in North Rhine-Westphalia in 2012 , he lost his constituency, but moved back into the state parliament via the CDU state list. In 2017 he was re-elected as a direct candidate.

After his death, Hendrik Schmitz moved up to the state parliament.
