Werner Pfeil (born March 21, 1966 in Stolberg , Rhineland) is a German lawyer , politician ( FDP ) and has been a member of the North Rhine-Westphalia state parliament since June 1, 2017 .

Life

Werner Pfeil was born in 1966 in Stolberg / Rhld. born. In 1987 he enrolled at the University of Trier . After studying at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) in the late summer of 1990, he passed the first state examination in law in Rhineland-Palatinate in summer 1992 . In autumn 1992 he obtained the "Certificate on Interdisciplinary European Studies" from the University of Trier, 1994–1995 he was a trainee lawyer at the Palatinate Higher Regional Court in Zweibrücken and a research assistant at the chair of Reiner Schulze, Director of the Institute for German and European Private Law, University of Münster, also employee at the European Law Academy in Trier.

In 1996 he was admitted to the bar at the Aachen Regional Court . That year he received a scholarship from the Robert Schuman Foundation, Paris, and took part in the specialist lawyer course for tax law .

In 1998 his dissertation on "Historical models and development of the legal concept of the four fundamental freedoms in European Community law" was accepted. As a result, he worked on various publications in addition to his legal work. In 2005 the board of directors of the Cologne Bar Association awarded him the designation of specialist lawyer for tenancy and residential property law as well as specialist lawyer for construction and architectural law after passing the course and examination . In 2008 the firm expanded and moved from the old Stolberg District Court to the building of the former Deutsche Bank in Stolberg.

He has been a member of the FDP since 1999 and initially worked as a knowledgeable citizen in the district council. In 2006 he became district chairman of the district association of the FDP Aachen Land and since then also deputy district chairman of the Aachen district. He was a member of the old Aachen district assembly and accompanied the FDP parliamentary groups in the city and district of Aachen in 2006/2007 during the discussions that led to the establishment of the Aachen city region through the law on the formation of the Aachen city region of February 26, 2008 . He was deputy chairman of the FDP parliamentary group in the 2005–2010, 2010–2015 and 2015–2020 legislative periods in the old district assembly and also in the city and region assembly. Since 2010 he has been chairman of the FDP parliamentary group, initially in the Regio e. V. and worked there in the constitutional convention for his parliamentary group in the talks on the establishment of the Aachen region association and its constitution. In the newly founded regional association for the Aachen region, he has been chairman of the FDP parliamentary group since 2012. Since spring 2014 he has been a member of the NRW state executive committee of the FDP and was elected to the state parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia in the state election in May 2017 on list position 12. He was also a candidate in the Aachen III state electoral district , where he received 7.7% of the first vote.

Since 2010 he has been president of the Aachen Carnival Association, founded in 1859 e. V., since 2010 he has been a member of the advisory board of the urban history AKV Collection Crous gGmbH .

Activity as a member of the state parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia

Werner Pfeil has been a member of the state parliament since May 14, 2017 and is involved in the following functions and committees:
