Hans Vorpeil

Hans Vorpeil (born February 26, 1937 in Alsdorf ; † April 7, 2019 ) was a German politician ( SPD ) and from 1985 to 2005 a member of the state parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia .

Life and work

After elementary school , Hans Vorpeil completed an apprenticeship as a fitter. After successfully passing the skilled worker examination, he attended the Bergfachschule in Aachen via a second educational path , graduated as a graduate engineer for machine technology in underground mining and then worked as operations manager and department manager at the Eschweiler Mining Association until the end of 1992 . He was a member of IG Bergbau, Chemie, Energie .

Hans Vorpeil was married and had one child.

politics

Hans Vorpeil had been a member of the SPD since 1972. From 1975 to 1990 he was chairman of the local SPD association Alsdorf-Mitte. From 1979 to 1990 he was chairman of the SPD city association Alsdorf and member of the board of the SPD sub-district of Aachen. From 1975 to 1994 he was a member of the city council of Alsdorf and from 1990 to 1995 a member of the district planning council of the administrative district of Cologne .

From May 30, 1985 to June 2, 2005 he was a member of the state parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia. He was elected directly in his constituency : 1985 , 1990 and 1995 in constituency 4 (district Aachen II), in 2000 in constituency 3 (district Aachen I). During the 13th electoral term (2000 to 2005) he served as vice chairman of the Committee on Economics, Medium-Sized Enterprises and Technology.

For the election of the 14th state parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia on May 22, 2005, Vorpeil ran again in constituency 3 (Aachen I), but lost to Alfons-Reimund Billmann ( CDU ). His position 75 on the SPD state list was not enough to move into the state parliament again.

Volunteering

In addition to his political activities, Hans Vorpeil volunteered in many associations. Since 1985 he has been chairman of the inter-municipal “Association for general and professional further education e. V. "(VabW) based in Alsdorf and since 1998 chairman of the association" Friends and Sponsors of the Medical Center District Aachen e. V. "(later" Association of Friends and Supporters of the Medical Center City Region Aachen GmbH eV "). From 1979 to 1984 he served as a lay judge at the jury chamber at the Aachen regional court . Honors

In March 2006, Hans Vorpeil was honored with the Kurt Koblitz Medal by the SPD sub-district of Aachen for his social commitment . On January 21, 2009 he received the Federal Cross of Merit on ribbon from District Administrator Carl Meulenbergh in the Aachen district building . On January 20, 2012, as part of the New Year's reception, Mayor Alfred Sonders granted him honorary citizenship of the city of Alsdorf.
