Eva-Maria Voigt-Küppers (born May 11, 1958 in Rheine ) is a German politician ( SPD ). She has been a member of the North Rhine-Westphalia state parliament since May 2010 .

Origin and occupation

Voigt-Küppers graduated from the Viktoriaschule in Aachen in 1977 and then studied German and social sciences at RWTH Aachen University until 1981 . During this time she worked as a lecturer for the adult education center. There she gave courses in “German for Foreigners”. From 1995 to 1998 she also trained as a state-recognized educator and then worked in an integrative after-school care group in Alsdorf.

Voigt-Küppers has been working as an educator in a youth group in Aachen since 2000. There she looks after young people who for various reasons can no longer live with their families.

Voigt-Küppers has four children, her husband died in 2000. She has been married again since 2014.

Party and organizations

Eva Maria Voigt-Küppers has been a member of the SPD since 1974. In 1984 she was elected to the SPD sub-district executive committee in Aachen, to which she has been a member, with a brief interruption from 2006 to 2008, until today. From joining the party until 1988 she worked for the Young Socialists in the SPD, here a. a. also in the state executive committee in North Rhine-Westphalia. She was also chairman of the SPD city association in Würselen .

Voigt-Küppers has been a member of the council of the city of Würselen since 1994, and from 1999 to 2013 she also held the office of deputy group leader.

Voigt-Küppers is a member of the German Child Protection Association , the Arbeiterwohlfahrt , the Wir in Würselen association , the Burkina-Farso (Reo) friendship society, the German-French society Würselen, the DJK Armada Euchen-Würselen and vice-chairwoman of the DRK City Association Würselen e. V.

Mandates

Voigt-Küppers has been a member of the North Rhine-Westphalia state parliament since May 2010 . She is a member of the constituency of Aachen III , which includes the cities of Alsdorf, Baesweiler, Herzogenrath and Würselen. There she won the direct mandate in 2010 with 40.5% of the first votes and again in the state elections in 2012 (with 44.9%) and 2017 (with 40.0%).

In the 15th legislative period, Voigt-Küppers was the spokeswoman for her parliamentary group in the study commission “Housing Industry Change and New Financial Investors”. In the 16th legislative period she was elected deputy chairman of the SPD parliamentary group and was responsible on the board for the areas of schools, further education and sport. Voigt-Küppers was confirmed in this office at the beginning of the 17th legislative period. She is a full member of the Committee on Schools and Education, the Committee on Equality and Women and the Council of Elders of the State Parliament.

Voigt-Küppers was a full member of the 14th Federal Assembly , the 15th Federal Assembly and the 16th Federal Assembly.
