history
Foundation history
In 1920, shortly after the establishment of the DJK Sports Association , the DJK Armada Würselen emerged from the youth club Würselen, St. Sebastian. The athletes showed great success in their early years, with Karl Wals becoming Reichsmeister in javelin throwing in 1927 and 1932. In 1934 the DJK Armada Würselen was banned by the National Socialist government, most of the members found their athletic abode at VfR Würselen.
On June 16, 1950, the DJK Armada was re-established. The then 1st chairman Leo Classen already held this position before the ban. Due to the lack of track and field facilities, chairman Wilhelm Meisters initially did not succeed in founding a new track and field department, but only kept this sport afloat at the annual Würselen street relay. In 1970 the club was forced to give up the sports field at the Würselener Parkhotel and had to move to Scherberg. As a result, the football youth had to be dissolved. Meanwhile, the athlete renaissance was in full swing. With the new high school and the local sports teacher Franz-Josef Vorderbrügge, who had been head of the athletics department for many years, it was possible to build on earlier successes. Paul Mainz managed the rare double of winning both the German 5-fight and the 10-fight championship in one year.
merger
With effect from January 1, 2006, the associations FSG Euchen 1966 e. V., under the leadership of chairman Gunther Moog, and the TuS DJK Armada 1920 Würselen e. V., under the leadership of Chairman Eckart Mohren, to the DJK Armada Euchen-Würselen e. V. With this merger, a new large association with 1000 members and three large departments was created.
In 2007, the youth football team celebrated its 10th anniversary. The winter cup for youth teams was the highlight of these celebrations and found in FC Schalke 04 the worthy winner of a field of top-class participants.
