Horst Westkämper

Horst Westkämper (born February 29, 1936 in Letmathe , now the city of Iserlohn ) is a German politician ( CDU ).

Life

After training as an industrial clerk in 1956, Westkämper completed an extra occupational training course to become a health insurance business economist. During this time he worked for various health insurance companies. From 1966 to 2002 he worked at IKK Solingen , from 1979 to 1995 as managing director and from 1995 to 2002 as regional director of IKK North Rhine in Solingen. Since March 1, 2002, he has been working as an independent management consultant.

Horst Westkämper has been a member of the CDU since 1967, was chairman of the CDU district association of Solingen from 1995 to 2005, deputy chairman of the Bergisch Land district of the CDU since 1999. From 1982 to 1990 he was chairman of the small and medium-sized enterprises association of the CDU district association of Solingen, 1986 to 1990 member on the board of the State SME Association. He was a member of the city council of Solingen from 1969 to 2003 and there from 1988 to 1994 parliamentary group chairman of the CDU. He was a member of the Rhineland Regional Assembly from 1999 to 2003. He is the first deputy chairman of the administrative board of Sparkasse Solingen.

Horst Westkämper was a member of the state parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia from October 1, 1999 to June 1, 2000 and again since November 1, 2002. In the state elections on May 22, 2005, he was directly elected to the state parliament in his constituency 34 Solingen I. He did not run for the 2010 state elections.

Westkämper is married and has seven children.
