Irish Museum of Modern Art

The Irish Museum of Modern Art (IMMA; Irish : Áras Nua-Ealaíne na hÉireann ; German Irish Museum of Modern Art ) is a national museum of modern and contemporary art that opened on May 25, 1991 in Dublin and is located in the former building of the Royal Hospitals in Kilmainham . The government's founding decision was made in 1990.

The museum board consists of a chairperson appointed by the Minister for Art, Sports and Tourism for a term of five years , currently Eoin McGonigal, and a further 14 members. The museum was originally headed by Declan McGonagle; his successor and current director is Enrique Juncosa, who was already deputy director of the Institut Valencià d'Art Modern and the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía in Madrid.
