Irmgard Pozorski

Irmgard "Irmi" Haas (born Pozorski; born August 10, 1953 in Heilbronn ) is a German artist who is best known for her jazz photographs.

Life

Irmi Haas was born in Heilbronn and attended the Elly-Heuss-Knapp-Gymnasium Heilbronn , where she made her high school in 1972. She then studied art education and art history at the Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz until 1979 . During her studies, she had her first exhibitions, including at the Mainz Palace and the Rhineland-Palatinate State Art Exhibition, before setting up freelance as a painter and photographer in Paris in 1979 with a focus on jazz photography. In 1984 she was awarded the world prize for jazz photography. In 1985 she represented the Federal Republic of Germany at the European summit for culture at the Sorbonne . In addition to painting and photography, she became interested in artistic design in the field of advertising in the mid-1980s. She designed the 1985 advertising campaign for Dire Straits , designed covers for Télérama and created works for Stern , Marie-Claire, Mode en Peinture, Le Palace and others. In 1991 she took part in the Tübingen sculpture project. In the mid-1990s she lived in Heilbronn, Karlsruhe and Paris. In addition to designing various record covers, she also worked on the illustrated book of the French jazz band Urban Sax.
