Isaac Isbrücker

Isaäc JH Isbrücker (* 1944 ) is a retired Dutch ichthyologist who specializes in the scientific systematics of the South American catfish ( Loricarioidea ).

Live and act

Isaäc Isbrücker was an aquarium keeper at the Amsterdam Zoo from 1960 to 1985 . He then headed the fish collection of the Zoological Museum in Amsterdam , which was transferred to the Naturalis in Leiden in 2011 . Isbrücker published (partly as a co-author) more than 80 publications from 1969 to 2006 in which he scientifically described around a dozen fish species, including the genus Hypancistrus . The main focus of his work is the taxonomy of armored catfish .

A cichlid ( Crenicichla isbrueckeri Ploeg, 1991), a harness catfish ( Hypostomus isbrueckeri Reis, Weber & Malabarba, 1990) and an armored catfish ( Corydoras isbrueckeri Knaack , 2004) were named in his honor.
