Isaac Johnson (chemist)
Isaac Charles Johnson (born January 28, 1811 in London - † November 29, 1911 ) was the inventor of clinker brick .
He was a chemist and started out as a manager at John Bazley White's cement factory in Swanscombe in 1838 . He was supposed to mix a cement that could rival that of Joseph Aspdin . After the industrial espionage failed, he made his own attempts. In 1844 he discovered a material among the alleged false fires that was too sharp and therefore sintered. Stone-like cement clinker had emerged.
For the production of Portland cement , the clinker had to be finely ground.
In 1856 he founded his own company IC Johnson & Co. in Gateshead-on-Tyne and later one in Greenhithe-on-Thames in Kent.
