Isabella von Mar (* around 1277 , † 1296 ) was the first wife of the Scottish King Robert I (Robert the Bruce).

She was the daughter of Domhnall, 6th Earl of Mar and a woman named Ellen, who had previously been the wife of Malcolm, 6th Earl of Fife . Isabella spoke both Gaelic and English . Most of their lands lay northeast of Inverness .

At the time (1295) of her arranged marriage to Robert Bruce, then Earl of Carrick, Isabella was a wealthy young woman. Her father was the first to support her husband's claim to the Scottish throne. Shortly after the marriage, the 18-year-old became pregnant. The pregnancy went smoothly, but shortly after the birth of her child, she died of the consequences of the necessary caesarean section. Six years later, Robert married his second wife, Elizabeth de Burgh .

Isabella's daughter, Princess Marjorie Bruce († 1316) married Walter Stewart , the Steward of Scotland. Their son ascended the Scottish throne as Robert II . The monarchs of the House of Stuart and indirectly the other royal dynasties of Scotland and England descend from him .
