Isadora is a feminine form of Isidoros / Isidor . It comes etymologically from the Hellenistic Greek and is composed of the name of the Egyptian goddess Isis and the Greek word “δῶρον” ( doron ), German “gift”, ie gift from Isis .

Saint Isidora / Isadora was martyred during the persecution of Christians under the Roman emperor Decius or Valerian . Her sister Neophyta died with her. This happened around AD 251 or 258.
