Isbister (Whalsay)

Isbister is a village near the east coast of the island of Whalsay, part of the Scottish Shetlands . The name is derived from old Norse eystri and bólstaðr and means eastern settlement . Isbister extends along the eastern and southern shores of a lake, Loch Isbister . Road connections exist to Brough in the northwest and to Huxter and the island capital Symbister in the southwest. In the northeast is an 85 meter high mountain, the Gamla Vord .
