The Gamla Vord is a 85 meter high mountain in the northeast of the island of Whalsay, part of the Scottish Shetlands . At his feet are Loch Isbister in the south and the place that gives it its name , Loch Vats-houll in the west and West Loch of Skaw in the northwest . The part of the name Vord refers to a summit with a cairn . This had a diameter of around seven meters, only remnants of its stones are left. The stone box below him with the dimensions of about 60 by 120 centimeters was excavated by J. Stewart . On the north-eastern slope of the mountain, which slopes down to the North Sea, there are further remnants of prehistoric settlement with the Standing Stones of Yoxie and the Rundcairns of Pettigarths Field .
