Isbornik Svyatoslawa
The Isbornik Swjatoslawa (German text collection Swjatoslaws ) is an illustrated manuscript from 1073 and 1076 in Church Slavonic .
On 266 sheets of parchment it contains texts by Greek church fathers and theologians and from the Bible on theological, philosophical and ethical issues. It contains a total of 380 texts by 28 authors. The manuscript is provided with full-page colored miniatures and numerous decorations.
The manuscript was made in 1073 and 1076 for Grand Duke Sviatoslav II of Kiev , as a note in the text indicates. It was partly based on a collection for Tsar Simeon I of Bulgaria from the late 10th or early 11th century. It was discovered in 1817 in the New Jerusalem Monastery near Moscow . Today it is in the State Historical Museum in Moscow.
