history

Until the 1960s, all ice sports in Frederikshavn were only possible when the surrounding lakes were frozen over. To improve this condition, a company made up of various private investors was founded in 1964 to build an artificial ice surface. An open ice rink was built on the site of today's stadium and opened that same year. At the same time the Frederikshavn Ishockey Club was founded. Just five years later, the roofing began, which was completed in 1970. In addition, changing rooms, sanitary rooms as well as a cafeteria and administrative rooms were built by 1980. In 1993 and 1999 the stadium was renovated and expanded several times, including a new roof.

In 2003, the city of Frederikshavn took over 98% of the stadium, the rest of the White Hawks took over. In the course of this, the hall was renamed Iscenter Nord. In 2003, after a year of construction, the second ice rink and the new administration building were opened. The White Hawks' office and fan shop are also located in the new premises.

At the end of January 2018, the hall was given a new name and will be called Nordjyske Bank Arena in future . Nordjyske Bank extended its sponsorship contract until the 2020/21 season. This includes the name change.
