The Ise Shima National Park ( Japanese 伊 勢 志摩 国立 公園 , Ise Shima Kokuritsu Kōen ) is a national park in the prefecture of Mie or the former provinces of Ise and Shima . Opened on November 20, 1964, the park covers an area of 55,544 hectares on the Shima Peninsula . With the IUCN Category V, the park area is classified as a Protected Landscape / Protected Marine Area .
Flora and fauna
The coastal regions of the national park offer, among other things, a habitat for the Japanese cormorant , which was traditionally used in tamed form in the cormorant fishery .
