Ise Province

Ise ( Japanese. 伊 勢 国 , Ise no kuni ) or Seishū ( 勢 州 ) was one of the historical provinces of Japan and covers most of today's Mie Prefecture .

Ise bordered the provinces of Iga , Kii , Mino , Ōmi , Owari , Shima, and Yamato .

The old provincial capital ( kokufu ) was near Suzuka . The modern tsu was the largest castle town . In the Sengoku period there were other fiefs with castles in Kuwana and Matsusaka .
