Wakasa ( Japanese 若 狭 国 , Wakasa no kuni ) or Jakushū ( 若 州 ) was one of the historical provinces of Japan in the area of ​​today's western Fukui Prefecture . Wakasa bordered the provinces of Echizen , Ōmi , Tamba , Tango, and Yamashiro .

The old provincial capital ( kokufu ) was with Obama , where the main castle was located until the end of the Edo period .
