Teshio Province

Teshio ( Japanese 天 塩 国 , Teshio no kuni ) was a short-lived province of Japan in what is now Hokkaidō Prefecture . It corresponds to today's Rumoi sub-prefecture and the northern half of Kamikawa sub-prefecture .

history

The province was founded on August 15, 1869 with six counties . The 1872 census showed 1576 inhabitants. In 1882 the provinces on Hokkaidō were dissolved.
