Nemuro Province
Nemuro ( Japanese 根 室 国 , Nemuro no kuni ) was one of the historical provinces of Japan in the area of today's sub-prefecture Nemuro in the prefecture of Hokkaidō . It was not founded until the Meiji period .
history
On August 15, 1869, Nemuro was created with five districts ( gun ), the census of 1872 showed 832 inhabitants. In January 1885, Shikotan the chishima province struck.
Counties
- Hanasaki-gun ( 花 咲 郡 ): Disbanded on April 1, 1959 when Habomai village was annexed to Nemuro . Originally included Shikotan County .
- Nemuro-gun ( 根室郡 dissolved was on August 1, 1957 in the framework of the merger of the city of Nemuro and the village Wada:).
- Notsuke-gun ( 野 付 郡 )
- Shibetsu-gun ( 標 津 郡 )
- Menashi-gun ( 目 梨 郡 )
