Kushiro Province
Kushiro ( Japanese 釧 路 国 , Kushiro no kuni ) was a short-lived province of Japan in the area of today's Hokkaidō Prefecture . It corresponds to today's Kushiro sub-prefecture and part of the Tokachi sub-prefecture .
history
The province was founded on August 15, 1869 with seven districts . The 1872 census showed 1734 inhabitants (Japanese, not counting the native Ainu ). In 1882 the provinces on Hokkaidō were dissolved.
