Iburi Province
The Iburi Province ( Japanese 胆 振 国 , Iburi no kuni ) was a short-lived historical province of Japan on the island of Hokkaidō .
It was on the area of the Iburi Sub-prefecture , the Yamakoshi-gun in the Oshima Sub-prefecture , the Abuta-gun in the Shiribeshi sub-prefecture and the cities of Chitose and Eniwa in the Ishikari sub-prefecture and the village of Shimukappu in the Kamikawa sub-prefecture of today's Hokkaidō Prefecture
history
The province was founded together with the other provinces of Hokkaidō on August 15, 1869 with eight districts ( 郡 , gun ). The 1872 census showed 6,251 inhabitants (Japanese, excluding the Ainu ). In 1882 the provinces in Hokkaidō were abolished and the prefectural system was introduced.

- Muroran-gun ( 室 蘭 郡 ) disbanded February 1, 1918 when 4 towns and villages merged to form Muroran - ku .
- Yoribetsu-gun ( 幌 別 郡 ) disbanded August 1, 1970 when Noboribetsu was established as a township.
- Shiraoi-gun ( 白 老 郡 )
- Yūfutsu-gun ( 勇 払 郡 )
- Chitose-gun ( 千 歳 郡 ) dissolved on November 11, 1970, when Eniwa became an independent township.
