The Jizera Mountains Museum Neugablonz is located in the Kaufbeurer district of Neugablonz and deals with the history of the German-populated Jizera Mountains and the fate of the displaced Jizera Mountains using the example of the fashion jewelery town of Neugablonz.

history

The Jizera Mountains Museum was opened in 2000 and is based on two collections of the Gablonzer Haus previously shown: the collection of the Gablonzer Archive and Museum Association and the exhibition of the Neugablonzer Jewelry and Industry Museum.

The museum shows the topography of the Jizera Mountains, the peculiarities of its cultural identity and its economic structure (textile industry, glass and jewelry industry). A 1954 VW Beetle refers to Ferdinand Porsche, who was born in Jizera Mountains .

The voices of three native Jizera Mountains lead through the museum: Heinz Kleinert (dialect poet), Otfried Preußler (writer) and Claus Josef Riedel (glass manufacturer)
