Isyaslav II

Isjaslav II. Mstislavich ( Russian Изяслав II Мстиславич ; * around 1097 ; † 1154 ) was Prince of Kursk (1125–1129), Polotsk (1129–1132), Turow (1132–1134), Volhynia (1135–1142), Perejaslavl ( 1135–1142), 1142–1146) and Grand Duke of Kiev (around 1146–1149, 1150, 1151–1154).

Isjaslav Mstislavich was the eldest son of the Novgorod prince Mstislav I , who became Grand Duke of Kiev in 1125 . In 1129, after the conquest of Polotsk , his father installed him there as prince. Three other principalities followed.

At the time of the decline of the Kievan Rus, he succeeded in obtaining the dignity of Grand Duke in 1146. The townspeople had appointed him as the successor to Vsevolod II, who had been driven out by them . However, he did not manage to stay in power for long during these uncertain times. Four other Wolhynian princes followed him, but could only briefly maintain rule over Kiev .

His daughter Eudoxia of Kiev was Mieszko III's second wife around 1154 . from Poland.
