Iskander Kachramonowitsch Machmudow ( Russian Искандер Кахрамонович Махмудов ; Uzbek Iskandar Mahmudov ; born December 5, 1963 in Bukhara ) is a Russian entrepreneur of Uzbek descent.

Life

Mahmudov graduated from the Arabic-language department of the Faculty of Oriental Studies at Tashkent University . Between 1984 and 1986 he was a translator for a group of Soviet military advisors and specialists in Libya . From 1986 to 1988 he worked in the construction management of military facilities of the General Staff of Iraq . His business career began in 1991 as a small business owner.

Mahmudov is the owner and president of the mining company UGMK, with its headquarters in Verkhnyaya Pyshma . According to the US company Forbes Magazine , he is one of the richest Russians . Mahmudov is married and has one child. He lives in Tashkent .

In Spain in 2011, together with the Russian entrepreneur Oleg Deripaska, the Spanish law enforcement authorities suspected Mahmudov of having committed money laundering .
