The approximately 9 km² island of Isla Catalina , also called Toeya by the indigenous population , is located in the east of the Dominican Republic about 3 km southwest of the mainland, two kilometers south of the coastal town of La Romana . It has an approximately triangular floor plan. However, it is part of the province of La Altagracia further east and belongs to the Bayahibe district of the municipality of San Rafael del Yuma.

The island is uninhabited. There are bathing beaches on its west coast, which are often visited by tourist boats.
