The island of Isla Catalinita, about 10 hectares in size, is located in the east of the Dominican Republic 1.4 km south of the mainland and 3.5 km north of the larger island of Isla Saona .
Both islands belong to the Parque Nacional del Este ("National Park of the East") and are under nature protection.
Isla Catalinita is uninhabited. Because of its coral reefs and shallow diving grounds, the island is often visited by tourist boats.
The island is a private island of the Carnival Cooperation, the largest cruise company in the world, which also includes Costa Crociere . Numerous cruise ships anchor off the island every year. The passengers are brought ashore in tender boats, as direct mooring is not possible.
