Yaakov Amidror (born May 15, 1948 ) is an Israeli major general of the reserve and publicist .

Life

At the age of 19, Amidror joined the Israeli Army , where he made a career in various fields. Among other things, he served as secretary to the Minister of Defense. Most recently he was head of the analytical department of the military intelligence service .

Amidror is the director of Zim Integrated Shipping Services , vice president of the Lander Institute in Jerusalem and research fellow at the Institute for Middle East Research in Washington .

In March 2011, Amidror was installed by Benjamin Netanyahu as chairman of the National Security Council. He takes over from Uzi Arad .
