The Isla Desolación is an island in the south of Chile . The elongated island forms part of the south coast of the Strait of Magellan . It is the westernmost of the Patagonia opposite, the strait-forming islands. It is separated from the Isla Santa Inés to the east by the Abra Canal . Its northwestern cape marks the exit into the Pacific Ocean . The coastline is strongly indented by fjords .
