Bjørn Ingemann Bisserup (born April 13, 1960 in Copenhagen ) is a Danish general and has been in command of the Danish armed forces since 2017 .

Life

Military career

After completing officer training, Bjørn Bisserup was employed with the Danske Livregiment from 1985 to 1989 and 1990 to 1994 . Then he served, u. a. in the Danish Ministry of Defense ( Danish Forsvarsministeriet ), on various posts as staff officer . In 2000 he was promoted to lieutenant colonel and until 2002, as battalion commander, was in the Congregational Livguard . From 2003 he held various posts in the Ministry of Defense and at the head of the Danish army. As part of these duties, Bisserup was promoted to colonel in 2004 and twice in 2008, first to major general and later to lieutenant general.

On January 10, 2017, he was appointed military commander of the Danish armed forces ( Forsvarschefen ) as the successor to Peter Bartram and promoted to general in this context.
