Seat of the VFK

The Værnsfælles Forsvarskommando (Danish for joint defense command ; VFK ) is the leading part of the Danish armed forces . The VFK consists of the Commander of the Danish Armed Forces (" Forsvarschef "), currently Bjørn I. Bisserup , and the Deputy Commander, currently Per Ludvigsen, and his staff. The command is responsible for the deployment, development and operation of the armed forces and reports to the Ministry of Defense .

The VFK was founded on October 1, 2014 and took over large parts of the tasks and personnel of the defunct Defense Command. The establishment was the result of the defense agreement negotiated from 2013 to 2017, which was intended to create a closer connection between the armed forces, the Ministry of Defense and the Værnsfælles Operativ Kommando.
